Baldestrasse 5

Munich – Glockenbachviertel
Building Completion 2003

* Facade prize of the city of Munich (2004)

The desire for urban lofts was realised in the coveted Glockenbach district through architectural redesign. The building, a former workers' hostel, consists of a six-storey front building and a ground-floor extension on the courtyard side. Ten apartments and one office unit were designed in open plan design during the course of the renovation. The commercial unit has an exposed glass cube that allows for the inside office structure to be seen from the outside. The new facade created by the conversion and renovation process impresses with its protruding box on the ground floor and  horizontally structured floor to ceiling windows on the upper floors.
